A Diving Stage bottle/cylinder is an independent cylinder used for technical diving. They are independent cylinders with their own regulators. Their primary purpose is not to provide redundant gas supply, but rather to carry either "stage", "travel" or "decompression" breathing gas for particular stages of the dive eg. initial descent or final ascent, while the main diving cylinder may carry "bottom" gas.
